We recently spent a few days near Disneyland and I wanted to run outside. Why I want to run outside should be obvious based on my photo wearing Manitoba Mascara on a past blog 5 tools to keep an exercise streak alive The weather was shorts and t-shirt! Overall the area is safe and well lit and the sidewalks are in great shape but there are a few things that I thought I would share.
The challenge with running the Disneyland area
1. No running trails unless you want to head over to the Santa Ana River Trail
2. Traffic lights
3. Sidewalks filled with people not focused on keeping to one side
Ways to run in the Disneyland area
- Run early am (before 7 AM)
- Run around the park I found the route below minimized traffic lights It gets a little confusing with the overpasses but if you just keep right turns you can’t get lost. Ball Road, Disneyland Drive, South Harbor and West Katella
- This loop is just over 3 miles (5KM). If you want to go further you could expand out to Walnut and add Disneyland Dr in as well if you want even more distance. For my longer runs added out to Disney Way like in this run https://www.strava.com/activities/10468620761
- Here is a map of the route I took I did find running clockwise minimized the sidewalk congestion as people would see you coming Link to the run https://www.strava.com/activities/10479219421

Run to Angels Stadium or Honda Center
I also did a run out to Angels Stadium which is just straight on Katella here is a link to that run https://www.strava.com/activities/10474813586 If you run a bit further you will get to the Honda Center. This route was fairly scenic and safe. The traffic lights got a bit annoying; but you can also access the Santa Ana River trail from this area if you want to run longer,

Hope this helps you plan some running adventures in Anaheim
I am sure there are other areas to run. This was the areas I ran while there. If you have other routes please leave them in the comments. I hope this post helps someone who is looking to run around Disneyland while in the area.
